I am looking to purchase a used car with a budget of $5000 - $7000. The only only problem is that I don't know much about cars at all. I am looking for first and foremost a dependable car that I will hopefully have for a long time without problems. I've been shopping around and I saw these 2 cars:2000 Mazda Millenia : $7000 price: 93k miles: automatic: power windows/locks/moonroof: 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS: $6000 price: 53k miles: manual: power windows/locksWhich car is built better? Anybody have any suggestions?

Mazda Millenia has really bad transmissions. Also, it's a Miller cycle engine - not a traditional engine. Might be harder to find parts for.I would go with the Mitsubishi.

kind of different cars . One an automatic four door some what luxury car and the other a manual coupe some what sports car .. I'd get the mitsu ., less miles , better gas and better reliability . I guarantee the tranny on the mazda has been or will need to be replaced .

It is not only about the value of the vehicle. BUT you should also check with your insurance company to see what the difference in premiums will be. It can be pretty significant!

Like most have said, The Eclipse would REALLY be the better choice. I don't see too many Millenia's on the road and probably for a good reason, probably that odd-ball Miller Cycle Engine. The '02 Eclipse RS Model is a 4 Cylinder probably getting 140-150 HP, not super fast, but respectable. It's a much nice looking car that's newer and has 40K LESS miles than the Mazda you're looking at +$1000 cheaper too!My girlfriend had a '03 Eclipse GT (V6 Engine) and it was a good, reliable and fun car to drive!
