First of all for your FIRST I'd advise against NEW. Also if this FIRST is at any age under 25, as a FIRST time driver you might expect to pay $100 a month or more? My daughter is 21 with State Farm, and a decent driving record so far, and her Ins. Is $1200 every 6 months, but her policy began in my name. I currently use Esurance.com. Primarily because they allow monthly payments, and deduct direct from my checking account. At my age they still charge near $100 a month for my old car and a decent driving record. Consider what you're able to pay "Out of pocket" for repairs or liability deductables. The higher the deductable the lower the premium. Consider the age of a vehicle, any insurance company can give you stats on what vehicles they insure for the best rates... AND your location does count!!! Maybe start there? Consider having the highest Liability you can, and perhaps less in comprehensive. Consider the features of a vehicle, its usage, etc. IE: a vehicle with even some passive security system may lower the premium not hardly enough to notice. CHEAP is relative. This is a 2 ton plus weapon you'll be copntrolling,,,no offense. Shop around but don't cut corners (no pun) that might cost more in the case of a claim.Rev. Steven

If possible, buy the car on the last day of the month. Most dealerships have monthly sales contests and are more willing to "deal" at the end of the month.
