Default what is the meaing of "aspect ratio" in reference to the number 70 on a tire? e.g. P225R70-15?

I understand the P = passanger, the 225 is the tred width in mm., R = radial, and the 15 is the wheel in inches. Is the 70 the sidewall height?

The 70 is the sidewall height as a ratio to the tread width. In your case 225mm width = 157.5mm sidewall.

Yes- I think it's 70% of the "225" width number
