I've always wanted to buy a hybrid car. But now I want to compare let's say the Toyota Prius to a full electric car. If I can find a good full electric car that's at a good price, I'd get it. Does anyone know any cars or good websites that have sedan plug-in electric cars that cost pretty close to a gasoline car. I know that there is the Tesla Roadster and Chevy Volt, which are pretty cool. They're pretty expensive though. Thanks.

theres a new company from China that is starting to sell cars in the US this year. They are signing up dealers. The first car will only go 30 mph and he charge doesnt hold for long. They have one due out next year that will go 60 mph and last alot longer/ They will be about $30k. Then there is the Gem which i think is sold by Chevy

An electric car is an alternative fuel automobile that uses electric motors and motor controllers for propulsion, in place of more common propulsion methods such as the internal combustion engine (ICE). Electric cars are specifically a variety of electric vehicle created or adapted for use on the road. Electric cars are commonly powered by on-board battery packs, and as such are battery electric vehicles (BEVs). Other on-board energy storage methods that are expected to come into use in the future include ultracapacitors, fuel cells, and a spinning flywheel which stores kinetic energy.
Some good electric cars to come market this 2010 TESLA ROADSTER Running at a top speed of 125mph and with a range of almost 250 miles, the Roadster is far and away the most powerful electric car on the market. It will set you back 87,000 but charging your electric Roadster will set you back approximately 1 and driving an electric car exempts you from road tax, so you'll make enormous savings in the long run. MITSUBISHI MiEV The MiEV arrived in the UK in November 2009 for a pilot scheme in the Midlands, but more batches are en route and should be in display rooms by the end of 2010, with price estimates beginning at £20,000. With four seats and a maximum speed of 81mph, running costs are just 6% of a comparable petrol car. You'll get 100 miles before your battery goes kaput. CITROEN C-ZERO Due for release in the final quarter of 2010, the C Zero is capable of 0 to 60mph in 15 seconds. You'll get roughly 80 miles before you run out of juice and a recharge will take six hours unless you have access to a quick charge point. Prices TBA. NISSAN 2010 LEAF Nissan boasts that the Leak is the first electric car designed for affordability and real-world requirements. You'll get more than 100miles out of a full charge. Charging from home is expected to take 8 hours but quick charge points will boost the battery from 0 to 80% within 30 minutes. Slated for release in late 2010, the Leaf is expected to cost £25 to 30,000. E CITY PRO If it's just a little run-around you're looking for, the E City Pro from the Nice Car Company should satisfy your needs. With a maximum speed of r40mph and a range of 65 miles, the car isn't suited to long journeys but with 800 litres of boot space this two-seater is ideal for shopping trips. Just £10,500. MEGA CITY 2+2 Similar to the E City Pro, this four-seater from the Nice Car Company is perfect for short family trips. Costing £13,295, the Mega City 2+2 has a maximum speed of 40mph and a range of 65 miles, and will take 5 to 8hours to charge. |

A car that won't pollute! A car that could stop global warming! A car that is just as good as a gas powered car! It must be Super Car. No it is just an electric car.

That's a very good and valid question. Here's the answer :
Electric vehicles would help in a couple of ways, even if the electricity is being made from fossil fuels. 1. Its easier to clean up the pollution from one smoke stack than from tens of thousands of tailpipes. 2. Commercial power plants are much more efficient than automobile engines, which means for the same number of miles driven less fossil fuel is burned. ![]() |
