Concept cars, are very good for transportation industry. For one it's always good to 'test the waters' a bit by watching public reaction to a concept vehicle. The Dodge Viper is a perfect example -- who the heck would have ever thought that a company like Dodge would ever produce a car with a monster V10 engine wrapped in exotic materials and racing chassis? Well, that's how it actually got started -- with a concept car. Reaction was so intense at the Auto Show that people were begging the folks at Dodge to take a $10K deposit -- on a vehicle that didn't even exist! Concepts also serve as a test bed for new building techniques, unconventional engines and daring styling.
