Default Have you ever wanted to seriously use the word "in lieu" in your vocabulary?

In lieu of fries, may I have onion rings?Honey, in lieu of the Kia Sport, can we just purchase the Lexus?Kids, in lieu of chicken nuggets, perhaps we should have healthy salads?How would you use the word?

i have to use it every year with the IRS. they keep saying i owe them money, i keep telling them i'm paid out of a pension fund in lieu of workmens compensation.one year, they'll get it right. (sure they will)

I use it all the time, often in lieu of other words such as "other than"
