The 6 CD changer that came with my 2002 Mountaineer died (for the 2nd time). I can't afford the extortionate dealer prices. I'm looking for suggestions to replace it (w/a single CD player)---preferably a unit to which I can directly connect my Ipod Nano. Thanks!

I prefer Clarion cd players myself. They are at the low end of the cost range, under $200 for many of them, but very high in quality. I have had at least five of them and never had a problem. They are a few models that take usb connection but im not sure about the nano. But hey, you can always make an mp3 cd with about 180-200 songs on it.

Walmart sells sub-par equipment, even the name brands sell their "budget" lines at Walmart. The best <200 decks in my opinion are alpine. in fact i think they are the best decks period... they start at just over $100 and go waay up from there, but a quality deck with Ipod control and pre-amp outputs and most the features you would likely want are available under $200. For example...$180 - alpine CD Deck 3 pre-outs, CEA-2006 certified amplifier, Ipod control, 105 S/N ratio, that is excellent... And it includes a wire harness and mounting platehttp://www.crutchfield.com/S-7bTUHnbYhut/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=300&I=500CDE9881UPDATE: I got a thumbs down from a walmart fan i am sure. listen dont take my word for it. look up the model numbers of your top pick at walmart and google it for reviews, you'll see.. Dont get me wrong, pioneer, good name, but for the money a alpine will blow the doors off of the models that Walmart sells. you may also look into pioneer premier, kenwood, and jvc. all good values as well.

go to best buy/circuit city and get a radio there for around $100-$150. they will usually have free installation but you are going to have to get the parts. for an ipod connection you can get a pioneer with the aux input or purchase the ipod adaptor too. there is a jvc radio that comes with it already.

Rick is right.........there are totally decent Alpine decks for 150 to 200..........and then after that id have to say eclipse decks....most of them are XM ready, have MP3 playback, and im not sure about the ipod you may have to spend a little extra for that i could be wrong though........however if you want to settle for less power and sound quality then go ahead and go to wal mart but i strongly reccomend going to e bay creating an account and bidding on a couple of alpine decks or finding one for under 200
