Good cars. Go old like a 1995 0r 96. Make sure its standard because the automatics have bad trannys. Try to get a turbocharged TSI model.

Porky, slower than they look/owners think they are, uglier than the 1st and 2nd generation, mediocre reliability.

The one you're interested in (2000-2005 model years) would be the 3rd gen of the car. It was available with choice of 2 engines: a SOHC 16V 4 cyl with 150 hp (RS, GS & GS Spyder models), & a SOHC 24V 6 cyl with 200-210 hp (GT Spyder, GTS, & GTS Spyder). But, AWD was no longer an option on all models for those specific years.Though the 3rd gen is a good car, I would recommend the 2nd gen (1995-1999) in either GST (turbocharged), or GSX (AWD & turbocharged). If you want a convertible, there was also the GST-Spyder (turbocharged). Someone mentioned the TSI which is essentially the same as the GST, except that it was marketed under the Eagle Talon moniker by Chrysler/Dodge. BTW, Eagle went out of business as of 1998 along with the Talon models. It all depends what you want the car for. If it's just for basic commuting, then go with either the 2nd or 3rd gen models. If you want a sportier ride, then go for either the GST's or GSX's...good luck in your decision!
