Default Why is the car dealer making such a big deal out of replacing the scratches on my hood?

I bought a used Infinite g35 from the dealer, and they agreed to fix the scratches and dents (underneath the scratches) from my hood. I went to pick the car up and they tried to pull a fast one saying "it's too difficult to remove the scratches, it will cost us way too much money, blah blah blah". These are really deep deep scratches and looks like it went through the layers of paint. However, is it really such a big deal? Is it THAT difficult for the dealer to fix this? Anyone have experience with deep car paint scratches? The dealer still has my car and said they know some ppl who might be able to fix it...Why don't they just replace the entire hood for me?Yeah, I have it in writing on the "DUE BILL". Do you think an Infiniti dealer will just patch it up really badly? They tried to convince me to take it off the lot and that they would "call" me when they are ready to fix it. I didn't fall for that either, so I left it with them. They fixed the dents, but not the ugly scratches.

Duh .................................................. .. You don't buy the car THEN have them fix it. You tell them you WILL buy it IF they fix it.

First of all, its kind of hard to tell exactly what would be a big deal about it, because they can fix some really nasty scratches and dents like new.Sounds like they were trying to pull a fast one on you for some reason.

I hope it was in writing that they would fix the hood. Sounds as if they didn't know the extent of the repair and are now bargain hunting for a cheap fix. Make certain they will warranty the repair or a year or two from now the paint could come peeling off and your car will look like it has some kind of skin disease.

Look,1rst of all dealers are the most cheating guys you can ever meet. The only reason they don't wanna to fix the problem is because luxury cars are more expesive to maintain & service. The dealer would have to put out a considerable amount of $$$$$ to have that hood done & because it was a good deal for you they asume you'll pay from your pocket any other expenses the car might need to.Of course them can find people to deal with it,but aren't willing to cut their profits by selling you the car at a good price & beside that have to fix the paint issue. There's a lot a of good shops that you can inquire estimations from.Just take your time & have some research done before your deside what to do. I think that if the car have a comun colour it's easy to deal with than an car with a particular colour such as a rainbow.

The car dealer is making abig deal out of it because he/she wants to show you that they care about you and your new toy so they want you to think that they are indeed a good person. Don't be too sucked into that, thats a sales gimmick. Tell them that you want them fixed however screw the cost of the car down for being damaged. I would lower the sale of the car by a minimum $500.

if they are making that big a deal out of it, the other thing u can do is ask them for a discount on the car (after checking with a authorized mechanic for the cost approximates)

Well if that was part of the "deal" to have it fixed then they need to do their part and have it fixed! So far your doing everything right, do not I repeat do not take that car until it is fixed or what your contract was agreed on. Be aggressive their a "dealer" they need to live up on the deal that was made. If they get aggressive back and try to use that tactic on you(which they do often and is used to intimidate customers so they'll say yes to the deal) keep your guard up. If they do yell then yell back and tell them "is this how you treat all your customers! then reiterate your situation."If they don't then they are not following the contract. Which in result cancels out the contract and your done. Go somewhere else that can satisfy your needs.
