Default Is there really a better car engine out there? (Chevy Colorado)?

The Chevrolet Colorado comes with a straight-5 cylinder engine. It has more power than a 4 cylinder, better fuel economy than a v6, and more torque than a v8. I own a 2005 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab. Living in the New Orleans area.

Formula 1 Ferrari V8, you may have seen the V10 version that won the American Grand Prix last year.

I am not sure what V-8 you have been driving, but the 5 cylinder does not have more torque than most 8's or even six cylinders. That engine has been noted as one of the worst for power that has ever been made. A good reference was in Autoweek a couple of weeks ago. Four Wheeler also attacked the engine and blasted it pretty hard. I like the LS1 in my camaro. Tons of power and great mileage. I have over 400 horsepower and an equal amount of torque and still get 32 mpg highway and mid 20's in town (6 speed car) and with about the same weight as your 5 has.

The in–line Vortec 3500 I–5 engine in Chevy Colorado is smartly engineered to be powerful, efficient, low–maintenance, and durable. This engine generates 220 HP at 5600 rpm and 225 lb.–ft. of torque at 4000 rpm. It is the best engine for a Colorado. But gm offers many other engines it just depends on you application. And no it dosen't have more torque than the average v8. Straight 6 3.0 liter Toyota motor. Used in the MKIV Supras and still used in some Lexus models, I have an IS300 with it in there. Can produce massive horsepower, handle any mods, and will last forever. In my opinion, probably the best motor.

The I-5 is a very low wearing engine I might add.... After break in, some have done oil analyis on them, after a few thousand miles and the copper drops, they practically don't wear.

Are you serious? The 5 cylinder in there is the most underpowered engine out there. Look at evrery other truck in that class and they all have V-6's and the Dakota even has a V-8! There is a reason why they outsell the colorado by a ton. I am the biggest Chevy fan out there and will eveb diss on this crapper. Where the heck did you get that torque claim??!! The best engine ever made by-far is any chevy V-8, especially all the 350's. Probably the LS1 is the best engine ever i would say. Now i just want to know why they put that wussy engine in the H3. Hummer=V-8 or at least V-6 COME ON GM!!!!I read 4wheel off-road, car and driver, Hot rod evrything. They all say that the colorado is completely Gutless.
