The new U.S. smart cars are olny offered w/ the basic gasoline engine. The real gas saver though is the diesel version, but they are only going to be offered in Canada. How can I get ne here in the U.S.?And any idea what costs are involved with importing?

volvo has diesel cars there not cheap and hard to find not good for some types of driving though like very short trips etc

Why do you want a diesel when your fuel in the states in dirt cheap. In England we pay over $10 a gallon!! Bite the bullet and buy a petrol! With the diesels been more rare the parts will be harder to obtain and more expensive.
