My mom drives us around total 6 people. We don't want a big SUV or minivan. Just something like a station wagon or anything that seats enough people without eating up a lot of fuel. Must be very safe.Any suggestions? Must be reliable. We are going to get a used car for around $8000 - $9000. Maybe go to police auctions?

look at a town car, I think they still have that feature in the front seat where you can put someone in the middle plus it's a nice comfortable ride, I don't know how reliable it will be but, your being a bit picky about no suv and minivan's those are the only things designed with that many people in mind, even station wagons are only 5 seaters...

Well, we also have 4 children. So that meant seating 6 for us. It's really kinda hard to find and most cars have bucket seats in the front. What we have found out though, is that buying a car that typically "older" people have driven is the best deal for your money. We went for Cadillac's. They were very well maintained and still looked new when we got them.

Personally, I like camrys. They do well on fuel (4 cyl.) they have ok power, they run forever, and they're fairly inexpensive for say a late '90s model with fairly low mileage. As far as seat six though, that could be a stretch. Might have to look at an SUV or a minivan. One other car I like is a grand prix. Its bigger, but as far as getting one used, they are not as reliable, especially if you don't know if they were maintained.
