Default I need to hook subs to a stock 1998 f-150 radio?

Let me start off by saying I don't know jack about car audio systems, but heres my delima, ok so I just bought a new truck a 1998 ford f-150, unfortunately it has stock everything stereo wise, my old truck (1996 Chevy silverado) Had all the subs and a sony head unit installed when I bought it (thats why I never had to deal with it till now), but I just want that same bass in my new truck. The thing is, my parents don't want me to change out head units, because they want to keep the 6 cd changer that came stock with the truck, so I need either two things, does anyone know if and how to hook up an amp and subs to a stock ford radio, or do they now a cheap head unit that will work with the stock cd changer. I am thinking about buying this, <p> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MTX-THUNDERFORM-FORD-F150-EX-CAB-CUSTOM-SUB-BOX-W-2-8_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38647QQihZ004QQitemZ1 40138858799<p>so can anyone help me, I dont even know how to hook up subs period, let alone a amp and a head unit.

you need to go to your local car audio store, and buy a step down. This will let you use the speaker wires coming out of the radio for your amps, and yes your speakers that are in the truck now will still work. I would reccomend you let the car audio store wire it up since you dont know that much about car audio. I hope this helps.

The only things connecting an amp to a deck are a remote line (12v switch which turns the amp on and off with the deck) and input lines (the red and white rca terminals) which most stock decks do not have. So in the case of the remote line you can use any other low amp 12v line that turns on and off with the truck.then for inputs you will need an amp that has a terminal called (high imputs) this is a 4 wire connection where you splice your - & + from both your left and right rear speakers to the amp. Then direct power for the amp will have to come straight from the battery (with an inline fuse closest to the battery to prevent fire in case of a short)then for the amps ground you can connect to any unpainted piece of metal in the vehical(such as the bolts which fassen the seats to the truck body. (prefferably far away from the battery to prevent vehical distortion) then connect your subs to the outputs on the amp(best wiring for amp to subs greatly depends apone type of equipment) refer to user guide of subs or amp for help. Standard + to + and - to - should do fine tho.

you will either need a line converter (changes the speaker wires to rca cables) or get an amp that accepts high level input. that box will work but here are a few examples that will also work...http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5055_MA+Audio+MA100QS.htmlhttp://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7669_Sonic+Sub+Box-+OCFRD09-10.htmlyou can run the front speakers off of the radio and get a 2/3/4 channel amp to run the rear and the subs.i'm guessing that the speakers are all factory so you might want to upgrade the back speakers atleast if your going to run an amp to them.when looking for an amp check the specs to see if it has speaker level inputs or hi level inputs thats what you will need.if you need any more help email me

YES! you can, but first you have to look in the stock unit to see if there'is a pre amp output (RCA cable), if so just connect a RCa cable from here to the amplifier inputs. If the stock unit has no outputs, then you need to make sure the amplifier has high level speaker input. (it connects the speaker wires coming from the unit to the amplifier inputs. If the amplifier doesnt support the speaker inputs, then you need a line output converter. Is a device that convert the high level output audio signal to a low voltage pre amp audio signal, then it connects to the amp. Here's one:http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2AJQplf0Y9Z/cgi-bin/ProdGroup.asp?search=line+output+converter&skipvs= T&g=721Here's a link to help you install the sub, they have pictures. videos, step by step guide line:http://crutchfield.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/crutchfield.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=2678&p_sid=j6DZ9ayi&p_lva=2677 &p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF 9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX3Jvd19jbnQ9NTImcF9w cm9kcz00NjksNDcwLDQ4MiZwX2NhdHM9JnBfcHY9My40ODImcF 9jdj0mcF9wYWdlPTEmcF9zZWFyY2hfdGV4dD1hbXBsaWZpZXJz &p_li=#
