It's like a V8 engine on another V8 engine. They're sharing the same Flywheel.

You know how a V-8 is like two straight-4's joined on a common crankshaft?A V-16 is like two V-8's joined on a common crankshaft. However, Bugatti use a very narrow-angle V-8 that has just one head covering both banks of the V. Are you familiar with the Volkswagen VR-6 engine? The angle between the banks is only 15 degrees, and it is technically a V-6 even though there is only one head. This makes for a narrow, short engine. It's the same idea as that, except they stretched the idea to a VR-8 and joined them together.Volkswagen also made a W-12 out of two VR-6 engines, and you can buy that in the Passat (well at least you could).
