It's not a dangerous car or the government wouldn't allow it to be sold. It is a small car without advanced safety features, so it's not as safe as a Volvo or Mercedes - but I don't think it's "dangerous".

its not really "dangerous" its just unsafeits frame is so extremely flimsy a 15 mph crash will take off the front endyou would be better off driving in a '60's VW bug (not kidding, they made them super tough) for that price range and year, i would rather go with a Honda Fit....Honda reliability and price....not to mention the performance is better than the Aveo's

The Chevrolet Aveo's not really a dangerous car - it received good crash test ratings.Keep in mind - if a car fails the standard IIHS crash testing (which would make it a "dangerous" car), then the IIHS won't allow the car to be sold until the problems are fixed and the car is safe.I hope this has answered your question.
