i live in the chicago area and i was wondering where and what i can do with a dealership license i mean i know you can buy cars and things with it but what is the point in having one. what is the difference between that and a public auction?

you need to get a list of manufacturers...they will let you sell their product for say wholesale and retail prices....if you fall under their region....and no one else is servicing that account.

Above are correct.A public auction is open bid, a person can bid $100 and another bid $110 and it keep going until someone bids more than anyone else will pay, say it go to $1,000. Everyone hears who bid and how much.Many dealer auctions are closed bid, they not have time to play around. So, you look at a car and put the price you pay in an envelope. No one knows what someone else bid. Then they sit around and eat and drink beer (Well maybe cokes) open envelopes and highest bid wins.
