Default Question about buying something fairly expensive from ebay.?

It's > $6,500, which is far more than what I have on hand. When I found it, I figured that I'd get 36 months worth of financing (takes a while to pay something like that on minimum wage).Anyways, this is what the seller states for his payment policies:"Cash, or "Official" check is best payment. (Available at your bank.) Of course, checks must clear before releasing the car.Full paymentRequired within 3 days of auction close."Being inexperienced in this type of thing as I am, I was wondering if it sounds like it would be possible to buy this car using a loan. And I know how to avoid scams, please don't bother mentioning them.Excuse the punctuation error in the title.

Cash or check will NOT offer you protection especially if the item is fairly expensive. If something goes wrong with the transaction, you cannot get back your moneyThe safest is to pay through credit card, so you can complain with your credit card that the item has not been received or it is not as what you expected. And the seller seems to want the payment REALLY fast especially the modes of payments that he/she wants. How long will the mail take to send the check or cash to this person? If Paypal, you can pay instantly but sending a check takes anywhere from 2-5 daysAnd you're even thinking of getting a loan to be able to pay the seller. How many days before you can get approval for the loan, send the payment -- and still make the seller's deadline of 3 days of auction close?I'd be wary if I were you

No, it states you have 3 days to pay the FULL $6500.00 if you are chosen as the winner of the auction. Plus, I use Ebay all the time and I do not purchase anything that is not thru Paypal. Its just a precaution b/c I know a few people who paid by money order and never saw the item.

For any payment questions you should ask the seller before you place a bid. The loan would be paid in a bank check so payment type would not be a problem. You need to ask if they will wait for the loan to come through or not. Just do this before you bid as once you bid you have made an agrement to pay.One factor in if they will wait is if you already have the loan or still need to get approved. If you don't have it yet they probably will wait if they didn't get any other offers. But only the seller can answer this question. As to if you will even get the loan that depends on your credit situation. This is including your debt to income ratio, your income, and your how your credit report looks.

Default Question about buying something fairly expensive from ebay.?

I was in your position last year... except I bought a boat on ebay. All I did was get the VIN number, EXACT make and model of the vehicle, and ALL the options it had. I went to my local bank with all of this information and had a check in hand within 24 hours.Just a note though... I did cross reference between three different local banks. I went to my personal bank and got the run around. Went to a bank I have never stepped foot in and got more informed answers and suggestions, and then I went to a bank that I had done business with before, but did not have a current account with and they are the ones the were the most up front and helpful. So check a couple of sources and ask a lot of questions to make sure you are not being "taken" on the financing side. Good Luck!
