When will the Aston-Martin DBS debut ands what will the comparsion be to the DB9?
The 2008 DBS will be available early next year. Aston Martin states that the DBS, which starred in a recent James Bond movie, and was showcased at the Frankfurt auto show in September is a true sports car. It is light and well balanced and a cross between the DB9 and sibling DBR9 and DBRS9 race cars. All of these Aston Martin models are built on the same VH (Vertical Horizontal) architecture of light bonded aluminum that provides strength and rigidity. What makes the DBS different from the DB9? The powerful V-12 in the DB9 has been tuned to add an extra 50 hp in the DBS to produce a full-bodied 510 hp. The DBS, which weighs less than the DB9, bolts from 0 to 62 mph in 4.3 seconds and it has a top speed of 191, which is faster than the DB9, according to specs in the enthusiast magazine Automobile. If you are interested in buying a DBS, prepare to wait. A number of reports indicate that the British sports car maker has received 1,500 orders for the new sports car, and since the company will build about 300 each year, the DBS is sold out for the next five years. However, an official said Aston Martin is exploring ways to increase production. If you have to ask about pricing, it may not be the car for you. The DB9 has a suggested retail price of $166,050.
