I have a r reg, twin cam, nissan almera SRI 1.6 16Valve. I bought it second hand a couple of months ago, but recently I have had a few problems with it. Whenever I stop (i.e. at a junction) the engine cuts out. It's starts back up straight away but , It's not stalling, it's just cutting out on me. Today, the revometer was going crazy, holding at 8000 revs and then the needle started going everywhere although the revs weren't. is there anybody out there who knows what this could be at all please. xxx

i had same problem and it was a leak in small air pipe to the carb you might have to turn up slow running jet too

HiIf the rev counter takes its signal from the crank sensor then you very likely have a faulty crank sensor, or a wiring fault therein.CheersGeordie
