muscle cars?
That's a lot of cars, and a loaded question. Many consider the '55 Chrysler C 300 to be among the first Muscle cars, while many don't think anything built outside of 1964-1971 model years is qualified, regardless of performance. Personally, IMO I feel that any front engine, RWD car that provides good performance for a low price in stock form is a muscle car. Of course, roadsters and sports cars need not apply, even though they're pretty much all right wheel drive and at the least good handling, if not excellent performers all around. Wrong wheel drive cars are wrong on many many levels, and while they can be made to handle well and go fast, aren't in the same class. Sadly, no one who builds cars knows what their doing anymore, so all we get is crap that's wrong wheel drive. The definitive Muscle Cars are IMO the '64 Pontiac GTO and the '68 Plymouth Road Runner. Stripped down, with nothing but go-fast goodies and at a low price (the 'Runner came in under $3,000 originally). This is where I get my definition from. You also have the Charger, Charger Daytona, Charger 500, Challenger, Coronet, Dart GTS, Dart Swinger, Dart Sport, Demon, and the max wedge Dodges. Plymouth had the higher-end GTX, and of course the Superbird in addition to the 'Cuda, Baracuda and Duster. Plymouth also had a version of the Dart Swinger, but the name escapes me. And of course the Chrysler 300. Others can fill in the non-Mopar entries, since I'm less than knowledgeable about them.
